'Flying The Iron Compass' 48"x 36" Glazed Oil original

Dad found much joy in creating various themes to canvass, especially when he had a chance to include depictions of aviation to the equation. In this rendering the point of the title is clear 'Flying the Iron Compass' was simply a term for the method used by early pilots to navigate they're way across the skies on clear days. The context here shows a simpler time as a mail plane treks its way along the railroad tracks that make they're way through a modest budding municipality.

Flying the Iron Compass, completed in 1986 is a

Glossed Oil on stretched canvass 48" X 36" hung in the Bemidiji Airport for more than a decade.

It now hangs in his son Ray's home and is available for showing by appontment.
