Simply Titled... Round 13!

John would often paint the entire picture and then not name it. I suppose there are a number of reasons for this that I can think of. Mainly that the act of creating the desired realism as he could see it in his mind was what he was focused on. For John, the title is merely incidental to the work. He and I had spoken a number of times regarding this piece, as he was creating it, as well as after its completion. It was here that he pointed out to me, how the concept of art is based largely on aesthetics and is therefore subjective to both the creator and the viewer. I confess, this one took some time for me to digest. At the same time, as I viewed this piece further, I admit there are points of detail that continue to hold my attention and as I kept visiting the scene more frequently, i notice, it is like he hid the vibrant colors really well. While I was photographing 'Round 13', it was during this process that the work  became one of my absolute favorites. It is of course, glossy oil on stretched canvas 36" X 24" and still hangs today on John's estate. It is available for viewing or exhibit upon request.
