While this is a common view shared by many commuters throughout the mid-west, it is also a viewed faced often daily during the winter months, by hard working people doing their part to help feed a nation. 'U.S. 75 North' 36" x 24" Glazed Oil on stretched canvas, John completed this piece in May of 1983.
This also happens to be the month he received his Bachelors of Fine Art from Bemidji State University, the very first student to obtain this degree from there graduating Magna Cum Laude.

As his history goes, John spent many years growing up on the farm. I knew him to really have an easy going, down home nature because of this. As a result, he carried a special kind of respect for workers from all facets of this industry because he was aware of the tireless efforts it takes to bring a crop in and get it to market. I like to think he painted this for them.

For me personally, this piece carries with it, the possibility of cool thoughts on a unbearably hot day... maybe suited to hang somewhere south... perhaps in a display not far from the dessert?
One can take a hike up a number of two lane highways in America during winter months and see this site. But not in Cali or Arizona or even F. L. A.
I would personally like to invite people from these regions to test this theory out.
A beautiful big sky with an ominous snow storm developing miles up ahead. I confess, it makes my teeth chatter a little just looking at it. Brrr.
