This is one of a what is originally a 24" X 18" glazed oil original on stretched canvas, one of John's latest contributions from the early nineties. 

          It is not only a picture of set rivals engaging in intense battle, it is also an experiment in lighting and tone as the sun sets below the clouds to the west. The artist brings a defined contrast between color and shadow in this depiction of a chase so few would ever experience.

One sees a gravely tense pursuit spiraling across a horizon rich in dazzling color. 

The actual piece hangs in the architect  design office of Jim Lucachick in Bemidji Minnesota, who also once served as the county commissioner.
