Also known as 'Messers at 3' by John's terminology. It is a 24" x 18" Glazed Oil on plywood depicting a scene of five B2 Bombers fully loaded and in route towards an objective when they encounter the two Nazi fighters patrolling enemy airspace. Likely a recreation from photographs, John would often rely on a model if he wanted to scale things to fit into a scene with adequate precision. Of course this is a common method with any artists working in realism but who then choose to add their own sense of impressionism. Because, while he used photos as a modeling tool, they were still black and white photos. Dad would add the color as he remembered it which is, as we all know, the right of the artist. This original glazed oil is priced at 3500.00 $$ plus tax.
